Hi, another question: I was adding Wikimania 2024, which already has a WD-item, and I was wondering if we can add information that is relevant for metabase (e.g. speakers & sessions) but maybe less relevant to the WD-item to the metabase item or that we would add that directly to the WD item? A place to discuss any and all aspects of Metabase, ask questions, request new properties etc.
nice approach
It is my own preference also over the BaseRow that WMF was busy with...so I was suggesting in one of Wikispore meetings with them to dump their text based information onto Wikispore and setup Wikibase just for Wikimedia OLD work. Good to see you started from your own end as internal knowledge managment. Hope it gets picked up by others soon. Was surprised to see I am first non WMSE user here now :-/

- Hi Zblace, sorry for the lack of response! Glad to hear that you like the idea! Please feel free to add information from your own work/affiliate(s) or add translations etc. We have not actively communicated about the platform yet and hope to be able to showcase the power of this type of structured database by Wikimania 2024. Using Metabase to Document Software in use by Wikimedia Organizations
Premising that on Meta-wiki we are trying to document notable software in use by notable organizations:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/FLOSS-Exchange
Questions:
- Is this kind of information in the scope of Metabase, in your opinion? I think yes :)
- If yes, is the property "uses (P43)" somehow suitable to catalogue notable software adopted by an organization? Example:
- Wikimedia Italia (Q22279) uses (P43) "BigBlueButton" with qualifier start date = xyz
Thank you so much for any comment and idea :)
Maybe interesting also to the kind User:John Andersson (WMSE) --Valerio Bozzolan (talk) 11:34, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
- User:Valerio Bozzolan thank you for the suggestion! It definitely looks interesting enough to look into :) / --Alicia Fagerving (WMSE) (talk) 07:11, 6 May 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for the interesting suggestion Valerio! At this point we are mainly working on adding data that are somehow connected to content partnerships (e.g. work with GLAMs, IGOs and research/educational institutions). But this focus is because we have to start somewhere and have funding for that right now. But we would love to see Metabase cover anything Wikimedia related! Would you perhaps be interested in adding the data about the FOSS tools here yourself? This is intended to be an open wiki after all! John Andersson (WMSE) (talk) 10:14, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
property for streaming on Youtube?
Hi there, While registering the GLAM global meetup we had at Katowice, I was wondering if it is useful to also add a link to Youtube streaming directly to the item? (I would say yes?) If so, what property would we use or would we need a new one? MichellevL (WMNL) (talk) 07:38, 12 August 2024 (UTC)
- We have two properties for linking to Youtube: YouTube playlist ID (P60) and YouTube video ID (P59). If the recording is available on Wikimedia Commons you should use document file on Wikimedia Commons (P22).
- You can use both properties: YouTube video ID (P59) on the objects for each session (if you plan to create them), or YouTube playlist ID (P60) on the object for the event itself, if there is a playlist. -- Andreas Kettelhoit (WMSE) (talk) 09:59, 12 August 2024 (UTC)

- Hello!
- An object with instance of conference (Q42) can be expanded even if it has property same as on Wikidata (P1). For some examples of how we modelled conferences, and their scheduled sessions (session (Q22726), see GLAM Wiki 2023 (Q22660) or GLAMWiki Conference 2018 (Q22904), or for a online conference see Arctic Knot Conference 2021 (Q23886).
- You are of course welcome with follow-up questions. -- Andreas Kettelhoit (WMSE) (talk) 09:38, 12 August 2024 (UTC)
